You read that right! Eaman Park Pool is Salisbury’s longest running community swim club. For 65 years we have been welcoming families and their friends to this community run pool club. And in 2020 we even welcomed their 4-legged children during our end-of-season Doggie Dip. From splashing in the shallow end to competing in Shark and Minnows, watching our pool families grow is a joy beyond compare. Coming up on Saturday, May 22, 2021 we are celebrating this momentous occasion with a poolside concert. From 5:00-6:00pm members and their guests will enjoy live music from local talent Courtney Puckett. Courtney is a well versed musician who has been soothing crowds with her sultry vocals and jazzy guitar style all over NC. After her set, we’ll kick things into high gear with Old Time, Neo Folk Trio Mama Tried. This popular loca band is based here in Salisbury, NC and features the talents of Emily Soward – Guitar and Vox, Kent Smith – Percussionist Extraordinaire, and Duke Wicker – Bass.
The Eaman Park Pool Board is providing refreshments, along with a selection of wine and craft beers from New Sarum Brewing Co. Members will also have the opportunity to view a slide show that highlights many of our amazing pool families over the years and to meet our 2021 Lifeguard Team.
As we celebrate this amazing accomplishment, we hope to also reflect on the positive impact that our pool has had on our community and in the lives of our children and families. From riding bikes to the pool on a hot summer day, to celebrating the end of school with a dive into the deep end, EPP is cherished by so many. We have watched babies grow up into young adults ready to change the world, welcomed them to join our lifeguard team, and then surrounded them with love as they headed off to college. For 65 years, Eaman has been a place where neighbors can come together, socialize and build a community.. a community that somewhere along the way starts to feel like family.
This 65th Anniversary party is FREE to attend and donations are encouraged. As we move into another season and battle rising operating costs and limited volunteers, we need your help to ensure that our pool continues to serve this community for many years to come. Please plan to join us on May 22, 2021 from 5-7pm. RSVP by May 18, 2021 by emails us at EamanParkPool@gmail.com. Please note that this is an adults only event.
The countdown is on! May is right around the corner and that means we can finally enjoy warm summer days by our favorite pool. You might notice our blog looks a little bit different this month. We wanted to introduce you to Members Monthly, a deep dive into what’s happening at Eaman Park Pool. This is our brand new monthly newsletter that you will soon be able to grab right from the Snack Shack. Here you’ll find our monthly calendar of events, news from our members and updates from the Board. Members who would like to advertise their business in the Members Monthly should contact us at EamanParkPool2012@gmail.com.

It’s Our 65th Anniversary
This season, Eaman Park Pool will celebrate our 65th anniversary and we think it’s high time we celebrate! The Board has been very busy planning a special evening by the pool to honor our stakeholders and commemorate our pool’s rich history in Rowan County. We will unveil more details in an upcoming email (so make sure you’re on our list!) but for now mark those calendars for Saturday, May 22nd!
Are you interested in joining a local pool in Rowan County? Eaman Park Pool is a private, stock owned pool located right in the heart of Salisbury. As Salisbury’s longest running swim club, EPP has been the center of great memories and family friendly fun for countless local families. There is no public entry so the pool is never overcrowded. Picnic tables and chairs are sterilized between uses and there is space to social distance. I know you are tired of being cooped up in the house. This is a fantastic opportunity to get outside and be active in a safe and FUN way!
Join the Board!
Are you a current stockholder with a go-getter attitude? WE NEED YOU! Please consider joining the Eaman Park Pool Board this season. Board members play a vital role in the continued success of our pool. From planning events and fundraiser (like our annual Swim-a-thon), to overseeing and identifying maintenance and landscaping needs, board members are the people behind the scenes who keep us all afloat! If you have any time to spare, however minimal, please consider joining the EPP board.
The 2020 Season is officially winding down. Most of our guards have left for college and hours have been reduced to weekends only. The pool will continue to operate during normal business hours and members and their guests can swim at their own risk. The 2020 Season will officially come to a close on September 30th.
Coming up: Paint, Wine and Drool in the Pool
As the weather begins to cool down, the pool deck has become a popular spot for socially distant gatherings. On September 19th we will host a poolside Paint & Sip. Members and Nonmembers are invited to BYOB, with bottle service being offered in the Snack Shack. The cost to attend this event is $40 per person. Cost and Date are subject to change. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook for more updates.
New this season we have agreed to host Drool in the Pool, A fundraiser to benefit the Pitner Dog Park. On Saturday, October 3rd from 10am-4pm, the community is invited to bring their favorite 4-legged friends for a swim in our pool. We are so excited to host this event and to invite the surrounding community into our pool for a visit. The cost to attend this event is $10 per person. One person per dog (must be 13 or older). More information can be found on our Facebook page.
Change is Coming
The EPP Board would like to send out a very special thank you to all of our members who have supported the pool this season either through donation, volunteer efforts or by attending our events. We have been able to raise enough money to make some very necessary updates to our facilities. When you return next season, you will find a new and improved bath house, pump room and shelter! After having multiple contractors evaluate this pool, this update was our most critical. With your continued support, there will be more and more updates to come!
And speaking of next season, you have a chance to win $100 OFF your 2021 dues by purchasing a raffle ticket! Raffle tickets can be purchased by visiting the Snack Shack between 1-5pm on Saturday and Sunday, or by contacting the Pool President at eamanparkpool2012@gmail.com. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity!
The month of July marked two very special events here at Eaman Park Pool. In addition to our Savory Sunday Cookouts, our Icecream Sundae Day and our Lollipop Giveaway, we also celebrated two events that left us feeling very warm and fuzzy inside– The 2nd Annual Swimmin’ for Eaman Swimathon AND Cooper Sever’s 243 Swim! If you attended one or both events, then you know just how special these events were for our pool community.
2nd Annual Swim-a-thon
Swim-a-thon 2020 Participants
From social distancing, to PPE, to furloughs and layoffs, this year’s Swimmin’ for Eaman Swimathon had many obstacles. After lots of brainstorming, the Board divided all swimmers into heats that allowed them to space out, to take their time and to raise money to benefit our pool club in a manner that was healthy, safe and FUN! Participants this year ranged in age from 4 years to Adult and every single swimmer far exceeded their own personal goals.
Our top three swimmers were 1) Lifeguard Cooper Sever, 2) Cooper’s father, Michael Sever, and 3) TidalWave Aquatics competitive swimmer Berkley Kontz. All three swam over 120 laps in 60 minutes!
The EPP Board would like to extend and extra special thank you too all of our swimmers and to all of our members who either gave a monetary donation, sponsored a swimmer OR provided a prize. Once again we were able to give a prize to every single participant! This years prizes included gift cards from ChickfilA, Go Burrito, Amazon, Granite Knitwear, EPP and Coldstone Creamery, a variety of pool toys, Snack Shack bucks and an emergency car kit for our college kids.
This year’s Swimmin’ for Eaman Swimathon raised over $1300 to support ongoing beautification projects here at EPP.
243 Swim to Benefit the Shepherd Center
On the afternoon of July 21st, Lifeguard Cooper Sever embarked on the incredible feat of swimming 30 miles in 24 hours. Cooper conceived of this swim following a family tragedy that left his beloved uncle, former NC State Trooper Chris Wooten. After being injured in the line of duty, Wooten recovered and received life altering treatment from the Shepherd Center located in Atlanta, Georgia. All proceeds from Cooper’s swim will benefit other citizens who would benefit from treatment at the Shepherd Center. To learn more, please visit: https://swimswam.com/nc-swimmer-cooper-sever-to-swim-for-24-hours-in-honor-of-uncle-chris-wooten/
While onlookers watched, Cooper pushed through the night and in his 17th hour he logged his fastest lap time. By July 22nd, the cool air that accompanied the night sky had vanished and was quickly replaced with the hot summer sun. Cooper was exhausted, but his support team was right there to keep pushing him forward. We watched as his family and friends pumped him full of electrolytes and soaked him in an ice bath every couple of hours and even when all the color seemed to flush right out of him we knew he would make it to the end.
By the time Cooper had entered those final few hours, many swimmers from our EPP family had taken to swimming laps in the open section of the pool and cheering for Cooper with every breath. His Uncle watched via Facetime as Cooper finished the last 100 meters. And when Cooper hit the wall on that final lap he was greeted with cheers, high fives, kisses from his family and congratulations all around. Our EPP family was filled with joy and excitement as we rallied around Cooper and celebrated his incredible and selfless accomplishment!
If you see Cooper, or any of the Swimathon participants around the pool, please congratulate them and thank them for all they have done for our pool and our community!
Well folks, we are nearly into July. The weather is warm, the water is cool and clear, and we have already begun making wonderful memories at Eaman Park Pool. We have a ton of exciting updates to share with you as we move further into Summer.
Savory Sundays
On Sunday, June 28th we celebrated our first Savory Sunday! 2020 Pool President Daphne Safrit, together with several volunteer Board Members were able to safely cook and sell more than 40 Burgers and Hot Dogs with all the fixins’. Savory Sundays are a fun way to raise money towards pool updates and improvements while also supporting our families. Please plan to swing by on Sunday afternoons to enjoy dinner by the pool. As always, volunteers are welcomed. Please follow this link to sign up:
Be sure to swing by in July for our National Sundae Day and National Lollipop Day Fun. On Saturday, July 11th we will be selling icecream sundaes in the Snack Shack for ONLY $2. Then, just for fun, we will be handing out a free lollipop to every child who visits on Sunday, July 19th!
The Swim-A-Thon is BACK!!!
Operating a community pool requires the effort of all of our stockholders. Last season, our swimmers managed to raise over $3,000 to be used towards beautifying and updating our pool. These swimmers exceeded all of our expectations and were awarded some awesome prizes including gift cards from Chick-fil-A, Go Burrito, and Amazon! This year we are so excited for round 2. Sign-ups are NOW OPEN for participants and volunteers. This year’s Swim-A-Thon will take place on Saturday, July 18th at 9am. Participants in this event seek out sponsors to donate a flat amount -OR- a per lap amount. Participants are then given 1 hour to swim as many laps as they can. This is NOT a race and swimmers are encouraged to do their best and have fun doing it.
In addition, we are asking all of our members to help as we seek out prizes for our swimmers. Swim-a-thon participants range in ages from 5 years-19 years. Ideas include gift cards, pool toys, water bottles, pool towels, etc. Please contact us as soon as possible if you are able to secure a prize donation. (eamanparkpool2012@gmail.com)
Cooper Sever Honors Uncle with 24-hour Swim to Benefit Shepherd Center
Our newest lifeguard, Cooper Sever is an avid swimmer. This year on July 21st and 22nd, Cooper will be swimming for 24 hours in an effort to raise money for the Shepherd Center. The Shepherd Center is a private, not-for-profit hospital specializing in medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spine and chronic pain, and other neuromuscular conditions. Cooper will be swimming in honor of his Uncle who suffered a traumatic injury and received life altering treatment from this center. All funds raised will be divided into grants to support patients in need. Cooper will begin his swim at 6pm on July 21st and will go until 6pm on July 22nd. We will be blocking off two lanes of our pool during this time. Please plan to support Cooper in this amazing endeavor!

Please consider joining the EPP Board and help us to ensure a fun, safe and long lasting pool club for years to come! To join the board, send us an email at EamanParkPool2012@gmail.com. Here at Eaman Park Pool we strive to create a relaxed, family-friendly environment for all of our members and their guests. Making sure that you and your family feel safe, comfortable and welcome is our top priority. After our first full week, we are here to say THANK YOU to all of our members who have worked so hard to make sure that this summer is the best one yet!
With new restrictions due to COVID-19, our pool capacity is limited. But, as we expected, all of our members have been extremely thoughtful and gracious as we work to share the pool and maintain social distance. We feel so incredibly blessed to have such kind and proactive members.
This year we have decided to spice things up by giving our lifeguards extra duties and incentives, adding HOT food items to the Snack Shack and engaging the community in new and exciting ways. If you are using social media, be sure to follow us on Facebook or Instagram for regular updates!
